Engaging the world’s next generation of sustainability leaders

Engaging the world’s next generation of sustainability leaders

The Centre for Environmental Policy is a unique interdisciplinary Department in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London, conducting policy-focused fundamental and applied research to solve environmental and sustainability issues.

The project

Centre for Environmental Policy wanted to increase and diversify their international student body for the MSc in Environmental Technology with student recruits from the world’s leading universities.

The challenge

Imperial College London recruits from the brightest and best minds to join their student body, international study is also expensive and requires students to have the correct English language qualifications to be eligible to study in the UK. Therefore we had to devise a campaign that reached students with the right academic qualifications, financial means and English language requirements to study within the Department. The second challenge was to outline the MSc’s focus on environmental policy in a clear and comprehensive way, whilst engaging and compelling students on the core message of joining the fight against global climate change and other crucial environmental challenges.

Our approach

Phase 1

Carry out extensive research into universities around the world graduating the best student prospects for the MSc in Environmental Technology

Phase 2

Design a develop a bespoke microsite for the capture and nurture of student recruitment prospects

Phase 3

Devise a comms strategy

Phase 4

Carry out a digital marketing lead generation campaign, with bespoke lead nurturing proccess tailored to the Department

The result

The campaign created a large uplift in number of enquiries from the target markets and increased student application and enrolment within the department from target students. The campaign also set the comms strategy for the Department to build and expand on, with market insights and intelligence to drive further recruitment activity in subsequent student recruitment cycles. Here is the microsite for the campaign - https://studysustainabilityatimperial.com/
